Additionally, this workshop will build on participants' experiences to find what will work best to mobilize change within their networks.

Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) is a collaborative research approach where both the researcher and community share decision making and are equitably engaged through all phases of the process. The use of a CBPR approach supports the development of culturally responsive interventions that meet the needs of the community. Participants can expect to be introduced to CBPR, its principles, critical points in partnership development, and common challenges that can occur throughout the process. More specifically, the challenges of power dynamics, trust, and culture will be highlighted. Each session will also incorporate information about implementing and evaluating community programs. Systems thinking is a holistic approach that examines the relationships or connections between various factors in a system, which can help reveal the underlying causes of a problem. This interactive workshop will offer valuable perspectives, tools, and strategies to create better solutions for health equity by enabling a deeper understanding of organizational or community challenges. Prior systems thinking experience is not required. Participants can expect to gain a foundational understanding of systems theory, be able to create system maps, and access tools to create a framework that can help anticipate possible reactions to change.
