Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) is a collaborative research approach where both the researcher and community share decision making and are equitably engaged through all phases of the process. The use of a CBPR approach supports the development of culturally responsive interventions that meet the needs of the community. Participants can expect to be introduced to CBPR, its principles, critical points in partnership development, and common challenges that can occur throughout the process. More specifically, the challenges of power dynamics, trust, and culture will be highlighted. Each session will also incorporate information about implementing and evaluating community programs. This workshop is inclusive for anyone interested in research and assessment.
