Evidence-Informed Program Planning within Diverse Cultural Contexts

Workshop Description:

This workshop will provide an overview of how to co-develop an evidence-informed health program that incorporates theoretical and empirical evidence and engages community stakeholders in the planning process. We will provide an overview of the six steps of the Intervention Mapping process, and how a trauma-informed approach can enhance the creation of more effective evidence-informed programs within diverse cultural contexts.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review the six steps of the Intervention Mapping process and their related tasks for effective program planning;
  2. Describe the guiding principles of a trauma-informed approach to program planning in diverse cultural contexts;
  3. Discuss applications of evidence-informed program within diverse cultural contexts.

Gabriela Buccini, Ph.D., MSc, IBCLC

Dr. Gabriela Buccini is an Assistant Professor of Social and Behavioral Health. Dr. Buccini’s academic training is focused on epidemiology, public health nutrition, and implementation science methods. She has experience in evaluating and co-designing evidence-informed infant feeding and early childhood interventions in low-income settings in the U.S and globally. She teaches “Program Evaluation in Health Promotion” and “Implementation Science for Global Health” in the graduate program at UNLV School of Public Health.

Kaleigh Mancha, LMFT, Certified Full Spectrum Doula

Kaleigh Mancha has served as a full spectrum birth worker & Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist for almost 15 years, specializing in perinatal & postpartum mental health conditions, reproductive experiences, medical trauma & complex PTSD. She has been a certified yoga teacher for 10 years & currently oversees all yoga programming & mentorship of teachers at Yoga Haven as their Program Director.

Additionally, Kaleigh co- founded Heart & Sol Collective in 2020, a queer & BIPoC founded nonprofit that provides accessible & culturally responsive services to address maternal health disparities in the Las Vegas community. As a result of her passion for community, she enjoys providing mentorship for BIPoC perinatal professionals & creating trauma informed programming for organizations & community members.
