Program Description: Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) is the leading global organization dedicated to accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications. Our purpose is to improve lives today while driving toward a world without T1D. Breakthrough T1D invests in the most promising research, advocates for policies that benefit the T1D community, and provides education and empowerment for individuals and families affected by T1D. Locally, Breakthrough T1D’s Desert West Team offers programs and events that foster connection, support, and education, helping individuals find community and purpose while contributing to critical advancements in T1D care and cures.
Services Offered: • Monthly Adult Social Group: Type 1 Adult Connection is a welcoming space for adults (18+) living with T1D and their loved ones to connect, share experiences, and build community while doing fun activities in the Las Vegas area.
• Type 1 Talk Educational Series: Type 1 Talks are seasonal events featuring expert speakers and discussions on important T1D topics to empower individuals with knowledge and resources.
• Free Educational Materials: Comprehensive resources for individuals, caregivers, educators, and healthcare providers, designed to support every age and stage of the T1D journey.
• Breakthrough T1D Walk: An annual community event that raises critical funds for research while celebrating the strengths, accomplishments, and resilience of the local T1D community.
• Community Summit: An annual educational gathering featuring the latest in T1D research, tools, technology, and local resources, plus opportunities to connect with others navigating similar journeys.
• Volunteer Opportunities: There are many ways to get involved, make a difference, and support the mission of Breakthrough T1D.
