Health Equity and Literacy (HEAL) Initiative
Health Equity and Literacy (HEAL) Initiative, seeks to reduce COVID-19 health disparities in communities of color and low-income populations in Las Vegas. To accomplish this, the HEAL Initiative seeks to increase organizational health literacy at four federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in Las Vegas to promote the delivery of healthcare that is consistent with National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service (CLAS) standards. Greater organizational health literacy is anticipated to lead to greater patient health literacy, especially as it relates to COVID-19 testing, treatment, and vaccinations. Ultimately, greater organizational and patient health literacy is expected to increase patient trust in medical providers and increase patient understanding and involvement in healthcare decisions.
